Abundance

"Rewrite your current belief set in the form of affirmations. For example, if your fantasy involves bringing more wealth and abundance into your life, and you're used to being afraid of money and feeling like there's never enough, you'll need to change your beliefs about wealth. Your new affirmation could read something like this: "I am no longer available for feelings of lack. I know my worth. and I'm ready for abundance in all areas of my life".

"It's important to ask the question "Should I say no?" in many different life circumstances. Thinking about this, wondering about it, debating it, pondering it, leads you to a deeper understanding of who you are, of what is good for you and your life and for the people around you. It ultimately leads you to situations where you can say yet to the abundance that was always meant for you."

Abundance. How this one word makes me feel so good, content, light, and well… abundant. I feel like I can breathe better. I can breathe more air in and feel lighter and feel like I can float in the air. Why did I have a such strong, positive reaction to the quotes above, especially to the word, abundance? I reflected on it.

There is a tendency to focus on what we don’t have, what we lack, and what we need more of. There are endless messages telling us to do more, have more, and be more. The constant pressure that weighs us down as opposed to empowering us. At least the reality that I have been living in - this is how I’d describe it. And in this reality, how you feel is quite opposite from abundance.

So, the word, abundance... Maybe this word was all around me the whole time in whatever I was reading but hadn’t caught enough attention from me. Because I wasn’t ready for it. I was too buried in those messages that tell me that I'm lacking whole bunch of things and I need more of everything.

Gratitude, on the other hand, is a word that I remember having seen often. Something like: “List all the things that you are grateful for.” “Start a gratitude journal.” Although I understand how and why these can be helpful, I couldn’t continue these recommended exercises. No matter how little you have, no matter how shitty things are, just be grateful for what you have... Be grateful with your current state and stay there. No matter how unhappy you are, try harder to squeeze whatever is left with you to come up with a list of things to be grateful for. It sounds condescending. It feels like settling down rather than challenging and moving forward.

Maybe I reached a point in my life where I’m absolutely tired of measuring myself based on someone else’s rules and standards and feeling not enough. Maybe it’s the realization that I will not feel fulfillment unless I change my mindset. That the word, abundance, came to me, stuck with me, and encouraged me to ponder.

“Picasso… said “The less art there is in painting, the more painting there is.” In other words, just do it. Leave everyone else’s definition or else you will drown in them.”
